Okhela is the Zulu word for ignite, and that's exactly what we aim to do in every project we take on. Through premium online tools and techniques, Okhela is able to offer clients quality digital expertise and solutions. Be it a new website, marketing or social media campaign, lead generation or just to refresh and strengthen your online presence, Okhela is here to ignite that project... and we have a lot of fun doing it.
Director Matt Hallowes has worked in many industries over the last 15 years including hosting a New Years Eve festival in Cape Town, South Africa. He's learned the hard way that you can't trust just anyone when it comes to digital services. Some words from Matt...
I've found very few agencies were willing to go above and beyond for your business. To many, you're just another account with the copy/paste mentality.
When it comes to the digital sphere, digital marketing, growth hacking and SEO in particular, you have to keep update to date with the latest trends but also constantly measure, manage and tweak your campaign and/or strategy.
At Okhela I only take on the work our small team can handle. We're a small agency, and I plan to keep it that way so that we're able to offer clients personalised, quality service. When you work with Okhela you know you're working directly with me and not being handed over to some junior account manager.
Okhela has been in business since mid-2016 and we are incredibly grateful for the amazing clients we've worked with in such a short space of time.
Most of our work thus far has been web design and development with our go-to platform being KeystoneJS. KeystoneJS is the new kid on the block when it comes to CMS platforms. Compared to WordPress, it's lightweight, making it much faster. KeystoneJS is also much easier to customise to meet your requirements.
One thing KeystoneJS doesn't have is the many plugins that you find on WordPress. However, at Okhela we see this as a positive. WordPress plugins slow your site down. Page speed is at the top of the list when it comes to SEO and page ranking, especially on Google, so this is important to take into consideration.
This doesn't mean you're not able to utilise the features that WordPress plugins offer. In most cases, Okhela is able to code these features into your website more efficiently than a WordPress installation. We're also able to use only the code necessary to meet our client's requirements thus not taking away from your website's performance.
Having said the above, there are still some circumstances where we prefer to use WordPress. For instance, where we need a booking system or eCommerce platform we prefer to use a platform like WordPress or Magento because of the "out of the box" advanced features and reporting they offer. We have built two great websites on WordPress for OneOneSeven in
Newquay, UK and Laperla Lodge in Durban, South Africa. Both sites have an easy to use booking system with the ability to integrate WooCommerce for payment processing. As these are private holiday homes with a few bookings annually, both of these clients have opted to invoice directly through PayPal instead. For eCommerce, we prefer using Magento.
In our opinion, the features Magento offer are better than any other platform on the market. There are an abundance of great themes, applications and integrations that make Magento a truly powerful option when choosing an eCommerce soultion. Our first Magento site will be completed sometime November 2016. We'll be sure to shout about it when it's live.
When it comes to digital marketing there are so many great tools to choose from. Too many to list here but, you can click here to sign up to our blog for updates, tricks, and advice. Having said that, we do have a few favorites. When it comes to analytics Google Analytics and Clicky are our go to applications. Both offer in-depth reporting and exceptional features to monitor your campaign effectively. The customer reports we're able to generate through Google Analytics help us present feedback to our clients that is clear and easy to understand so that we're all on the same page when it comes to making changes and improving a campaign.
One application we cannot praise enough is Infusionsoft. Infusionsoft is a complete Customer Relationship Management or CRM platform that allows us to gather leads, build useful, intelligent customer databases, automate sales pipelines and email campaigns as well as integrate into eCommerce platforms like WooCommerce and Magento with useful features to help close sales. Working with Infusionsoft has given us an in-depth look into customer behavior online and find ourselves learning something new every day.
